Our durable leather goods are unlined, featuring the natural suede side of the hide. Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade, making each piece uniquely yours.
Our leather is incredibly easy to care for. With time and use, the natural oils in the leather will rise to the surface, developing a beautiful patina and smoothing any scuffs or scratches that may have accumulated. Learn more about caring for your new leather product.
Full Grain: Meticulously sourced from the finest hides, this premium material boasts unique textures and character, showcasing nature's artistry at its best. As time passes, watch as its surface develops a unique patina, telling your personal journey through the years. Unlike processed leathers, full grain leather stands the test of time, due to its unmatched strength and resilience. Its dense fibers offer exceptional resistance to wear, cuts, and moisture, our full grain leather ensures lasting beauty that only gets better with age.
Top Grain: Top-grain starts from the same premium zone of the hide but is lightly sanded and finished for a more uniform surface. That light correction softens and evens the face while keeping most of the strength you want. Takes pigment and protective finishes beautifully, which helps with colorfastness and stain resistance. Ages gracefully, especially when we keep the finish thin enough to let the leather breathe and break in.
We use top-grain when a smoother cosmetic is the goal—think color consistency across large panels—without walking away from the core strength you expect from a Portland bag.
Pebbled: Unlike most brands that use artificial stamping methods to create patterns, our pebbled leather is achieved through a natural tumbling process. The distinctive raised, pebble-shaped texture adds sophistication and makes a bold statement wherever you go. But it's not just about looks—pebbled leather is built to last. Worried about daily wear and tear? Don’t be! The unique pebbled surface ages gracefully, developing a natural patina that will evolve for years to come!
Suede: Our suede leather begins with an intricate process: the hide is split to separate the soft underside from the top layer. This top layer is then tanned, buffed, sanded, and dyed to create the signature velvety texture that defines high-quality suede. Naturally slouchy and pliable, suede leather ages gracefully, developing a rich patina that tells its own story over time. Most natural imperfections are gently smoothed away during production, while subtle traces—like healed veining and the soft, napped surface—are preserved to celebrate the leather’s unique character and charm.
Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade—making each piece uniquely yours.

Gorgeous Reef Utility Bag!
by: Diane J.
I just had to have something in that stunning reef color! The gorgeous color variation and the feel of the bag is swoon worthy. I recently used this at a wedding to stash some make-up brushes and a few small cosmetics for touch-ups. This is a perfect size to keep in my carry-on backpack when I travel. I need more items in the reef color though!
Nutmeg Perfection!
by: Rachele C.
After purchasing my nutmeg medium cb tote, I decided I wanted something for organization. Utility bag for the win! Has the PLG perfect leather smell and works great in my bags. I also use it for my large bucket and butterfly. I will need more colors in the future!
Perfect size, and pretty!
by: Leslie (.
The utility pouch is my go-to for makeup in my work bag. Whenever there’s an online meeting, I grab it and touch up my face, so I’m camera ready. I’ve also used the utility pouch for tech chargers, stationery supplies, and glasses. Super versatile, I find it’s not too small and not too big. My fave is my well-loved peacock, which doesn’t even show the 9 months of regular use for the aforementioned makeup essentials! I also got pebbled black in a mystery box, and that pouch arrived in absolute perfect condition! Highly recommend.
Great for travel!
by: Janet E.
I purchased this one in deep water and I LOVE it! It is great for travel items. I love that it opens wide at the top so I can see everything. 100% recommend!
Perfect
by: Leann
I purchased the utility in violet & it fits perfectly in the bottom of my mini crossbody tote. It holds all the stuff I like to carry in my purse but don’t need often. Love this little workhorse!

Favorite “little”
by: Jeannette R.
Beautiful color Empire utility. This style is one of my favorites. Surprisingly roomy and doesn't take up too much space in my larger bag. i always have one of these with me for the odds and ends I need. If I could buy in every color, I would!
Organized the Stuff!
by: Kristen N.
I bought this bag to “test drive” the size. The bag is the right size to hold my charging cord, spare battery, and a wall plug - no more digging or fighting tangled cords! The succulent color is one of my favorite - the green is beautiful and I’m always drawn to the soft leathers!
Tulip

I'm not usually a pink person, but this color is stunning! Can't wait to use this for an upcoming trip.

Semi-new to Portland Leather and so far I've loved every product. Great quality. Reliable shipping. I chose a color I normally would not pick. It's beautiful. A lot of room for all my miscellaneous items.
Great utility bag
by: Kathleen M.
I got this utility bag in Koi and love it! It's such a pretty orange, it makes me smile just looking at it. It's soft and pebbley and holds lots of stuff. You can add it to your bag or carry it alone. Just a perfect "little" to add to my beautiful PLG collection. 😍
Customer Reviews
I have used this daily for several years and have also taken it on multiple international trips. It has held up extremely well and still looks almost new. Thank you for such a well-made product!
I purchased the utility bag in nutmeg. It is a great size however it probably won’t fit in a very small bag but it does fit in my mini crossbody I am using it to hold pens chapstick travel medicine containers hand lotion and has plenty of room for a few more things
The utility bag is one of my favorites. It's the perfect size for larger bags. I use them for chargers, makeup or whatever needs to be contained when traveling.
Purchased 4 for gifts. Great pouch
This pouch is good for organizing inside a larger bag. It can fit more than the smaller one. It can hold medicine, feminine hygiene products, makeup, sanitizer, and more. Very handy when using large bags.
